INTRODUCTION

Who are the users?

The target audience is grade 9 and 10 students who decide are interested in technology and have chosen a technology course as an elective.  These include not only those students who may pursue careers and further study in science and engineering, but also include those may never attend college but who will require a good working knowledge of technology when they enter the work force.

Recommended background for using the modules:

Two years of mathematics.
Two years of science.

Also desirable:

Physics as pre- or co-requisite.
Third year of mathematics as pre- or co-requisite.


EXISTING COURSES ENHANCED BY THE MODULE

The module contains skill and knowledge builders (KSBs) in the design process and energy /power. Thus, it fits well into technology education and science courses that address standards for Technological Literacy and National Science Education Standards, respectively.

GRADE LEVEL

This module is appropriate for use in high school and community colleges, grade 9-14.

TIME ALLOCATION

45-minute periods: 4-5 weeks.
