After completing her Ph.D. in 1999 on semiconductor microcavities,
Michal Lipson joined the department of Material Science in
MIT as a Postdoctoral Associate. Her research in MIT involved the physics and
applications of Si-based photonic structures for
on-chip applications.
Her research demonstrated the first proof that one could achieve strong
coupling between light and matter in a Si structure.
