- Project Title: Design/Building a quad walking robot
- Project Background
This project have been in progress for a while now, we are planning to use the robot for robot gaiting with machine learning in mind. We are have been using this open source project as the base robot design(https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:38159) , but the design seems insufficient to mount all the new component needed and requires redesigning. I am personally trying to recruit student that are good at 3D designing that have good understanding of center of gravity and force distribution to redesign the chassis of the robot. It will be a plus if you are interested in electrical circuit and programming.
1) To design a new stable chassis that can mount the new components. 2) 3D print the parts 3) Fully assemble the robot and test whether it's functional.
- Expected Deliverables
A fully functional and stable chassis that is able to mount all new component for robot gaiting research.
- Tentative Timeline
I would like it get the design and printing done as quick as possible. So most probably 3 weeks or less, but the students are welcome to stay on if they are interested in helping and see the project evolve.
- Learning Outcomes
1) Working with student from other fields. 2) Design/Build a functional 3D chassis for a robot. 3)Maybe some electrical circuit and programing
