About Me

I am located at the San Francisco Bay area working as a Senior Video Algorithm Design Engineer. I received my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering on Sept. 1, 2007. Prof. Lisimachos P. Kondi, Prof. Stella Batalama and Prof. Dimitris Pados were members of my dissertation committee. I was a Ph.D. candidate (GPA: 3.8/4.0) and Teaching Assistant in the Department of Electrical Engineering, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. I was working at the Multimedia Communications Laboratory with Prof. Lisimachos P. Kondi. I joined University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, New York, USA in August, 2002 and completed my M.S. Thesis in Electrical Engineering on September, 2004 and my Ph.D. dissertation in Electrical Engineering in July, 2007. I specialized in Communications and Signal Processing. During Spring 2007, I was the teaching assistant for a graduate level course on Video Communications.

I completed my schooling from South Point School, Calcutta, India and then from South Point High School, Calcutta, India. I received my B.E. (with Highest Distinction) in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, India in 2001 and M.S. (GPA: 3.8/4.0) in Electrical Engineering, from University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, New York, USA in Feb. 2005 (M.S thesis defended on Sept. 2004). During my B.E., I have worked on "Fractal Image Compression using Genetic Algorithms". My M.S thesis concentrates on, "Joint optimal shape and texture coding for object based MPEG-4 video". A copy of my M.S. thesis can be obtained from UMI ProQuest Digital Dissertations. My Ph.D. dissertation research focuses on "Cross Layer Optimization for Video Transmission over Multiple Access Wireless Systems". In my Ph.D. dissertation, cross layer approaches were proposed for Scalable MPEG-4 and H.264 video transmission over 3G and 4G wireless systems. A copy of my Ph.D. dissertation can be obtained from UMI ProQuest Digital Dissertations. After completing my B.E in Electrical Engineering I have worked at Wipro Technologies, India. I also held research positions at Machine Intelligence Unit of Indian Statistical Institute, India; Content Distribution-Mobility group of Thomson-Corporate Research, USA; Signal Processing Institute of Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Switzerland. Our work has been published in journals, conferences, accepted in several standard committees, invention disclosures/patents filed. I have also contributed to a book chapter. Please email me for a complete list of publications, patents.
