Me and the Arch
This part of the event was a surprise. After pulling the train down, the team asked me
how I wanted to packup the kites. I told them "not yet we're going to fly an arch of box
kites". Yeah sure, this I've got to see!! Was the response of some of the sceptics on the
team, who will remain nameless to protect their reputations! So we got all the people
holding the kites to march into an arc. I held one end and the anchor team was on the
other end. We gave the launch signal and up it went to the amazement of the crowd.
This picture shows that the grass was only recently planted. When we arrived at the
flying field there were signs up saying "Please do not walk on the new grass". This
suprised us as this is where the event was scheduled. So after a brief consultation with
the organizers we proceeded onto the grass. If you look at the Yellow Shirt off my right
shoulder you will see the Mayor standing next to Graham Jones (the Yellow Shirt).
Right behind the Mayor and just out of the picture is one of the signs!!! So much for our
concern.
