About me...
Hey . . . I am Madusudanan Sathia Narayanan (Madu).
I am from Chennai, a city in southern India where I have lived for more than 20 years before taking up my graduate studies in University at Buffalo, NY USA.
My Education:
I did all my schooling in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, Chennai, India. I had a cumulative GPA of 8.26 in a scale of 10. I also completed a advanced diploma in information technology from National Institute of Information Technology. The course covered software programming using C/C++, Java, Javascript and web markup languages.
I completed my Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from University at Buffalo (SUNY) in the year 2008. For my master's thesis, I worked in a multidisciplinary research project to design a bio-robotic system for analyzing vertebrae jaw motions. The thesis work titled "Quantitative Analysis of Parallel Manipulator Architectures for Masticatory Studies" was submitted to the department on September 2008. I am currently enrolled in doctoral program in the same school which I expect to complete by end of summer 2012. My primary areas of interest are simulation based design, controls and biorobotic design. I pursue my research work as a Research Assistant at Automation, Robotics and Mechatronics Laboratory (ARM Lab), SUNY Buffalo. For my dissertation, I am currently working on developing real-time simulation models for biological tissues that will be implemented in a surgical simulator environment for subsequent training and quantitative assessment.
Projects and Activities
I have listed all my work and publications in "Projects" section. If you would like to know further details about my projects, feel free to mail me and I will be glad to discuss with you.
My favorite outdoor sports are cricket and badminton. I would wish to follow all the cricket matches esp. when Team India is playing. Among the indoor games, I play chess and carrom. During vacations, I love to pack my travel gear and spend some quality time in new places more often-- state parks, camping, crowded-cities etc.... Apart from these, I would like to hear good music and I frequently update my music collections with new releases.
