Biography

Venu Govindaraju is a professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, and Director of the Center for Unified Biometrics and Sensors (CUBS) at UB.

Dr. Govindaraju's research is focused on Pattern Recognition applications in Biometrics. He serves on the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (B), The International Journal of Document Analysis an Recognition, and The Journal of Pattern Recognition. He has co-authored more than 140 scientific papers and has one U.S. patent to his credit.

Dr. Govindaraju was the general co-chair of the recent IEEE workshop on Document Image Analysis and Retrieval (DIAR-03) held in conjunction with CVPR- 03 (June 21, 2003) in Madison, WI. He is the general co-chair of the upcoming International Workshop on Document Image Analysis and Libraries (DIAL-04), Palo Alto, CA, Jan 23-24, 2004.
