IE 538 Human Factors Practicum

Course Area

This course provides techniques for testing hypotheses and making numerical estimates based on data collected on human participants.  The lecture content covers measurement strategies, issues of simulation fidelity, and laboratory vs field experimentation.  The laboratory and field content provides a series of tests of current issues in human factors practice from manufacturing, transportation and office systems.  The laboratory / field content is the main part of the course.  Familiarity with the human factors field, e.g. IE 530 Human Factors Fundamentals, and material covered in  IE 531 and IE 507 is expected.

New stuff, 28 January 2002

First, I only got a couple of EMAIL replies and I do need to make a mailing list for the class.  Please send me a message at drury@buffalo.edu.

I'm attaching the files for the "old" version of the Process Control program we will be using for Study 4.  I'm also attaching one sample "machine" which the program uses to prepare the responses.

I suggest you download these and play with them to get a feel for the task.
