Short Biography: Dr. Bahattin Koc is an Associate Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University at Buffalo (SUNY). He is also the Director of Computational Biomodeling and Fabrication and Intelligent Manufacturing Labs. He received his PhD (2001) and MS (1997) degrees in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University and his BS degree (1993) in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. Dr. Koc's research and teaching interests are primarily in the interdisciplinary area of computational geometry for design and manufacturing, biomedical engineering, rapid prototyping, nano/micro-scale modeling and manufacturing, and product realization. His research has been funded through the governmental agencies, national and local companies, and the university funds including Department of Defense (DoD), Army Medical Research, Lockheed Martin and private industrial companies. He has published more than 35 journal and conference papers and a book chapter and owns two patents. He received the University's STOR Inventor Award, Reifler Award, Interdisciplinary Research and Development and Educational Technology Awards. His advised MS thesis has also won the third place in the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) Graduate Research Award. |
