UB Engineering Presidential Scholarship/Doctoral Fellowship ProgramPurposeThe University at Buffalo Honors College and UB Engineering have created the Presidential Scholarship/Doctoral Fellowship Program to attract the top undergraduates from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences to continue on to graduate school with the goal of attaining a Ph.D. degree. EligibilityStarting Fall 2011, the top ten Presidential Scholars graduating with a bachelor's degree from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and committed to attaining a Ph.D. degree will be granted automatic admission to graduate school in UB Engineering with guaranteed funding throughout their graduate studies. To be a competitive applicant for a Presidential Scholarship, entering freshman should present a combined critical reading and math SAT score of 1470 or better (or a minimum ACT score of 33) and an unweighted high school average of 95 or better. Details about Presidential Scholarships may be found at http://honors.buffalo.edu/enrolling/scholarships.php RequirementsTo maintain a Presidential Scholarship, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA throughout their undergraduate curriculum. At the graduate level, students must make satisfactory progress toward the Ph.D. degree, as judged by their faculty advisor and dissertation committee. BenefitsPresidential Scholarships pay for the full cost of attendance at the undergraduate level for four years. Graduate students receive a tuition scholarship and a stipend, ranging from $15,000 to over $30,000 a year, depending on graduate level, program and funding source. The student's stipend is used to pay for room and board. Considering both undergraduate and graduate scholarships and funding, the total value of this program is approximately $200,000. Students in this program receive full funding for their higher education, essentially going from high school to Ph.D. for free. | |||
