Tau Beta Pi is the second oldest honor society in the nation. It was founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to mark in a fitting manner those who have conferred honor upon their alma mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as undergraduates in the field of engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in the engineering colleges.
Since it's inauguration 485,337 members have been inducted into Tau Beta Pi. Currently there are 230 active collegiate chapter in the United States. For more information on the national organization please visit www.tbp.org
Our chapter at the University at Buffalo was established in 1967. At any time we have between 50-100 members. We organize a wide variety, most notable and long lived are our Honors Dinner and engineering tutoring programs.
