We offer
win-win practical work experiences for post-junior year engineering and applied sciences students and employers.
The Engineering Career Institute provides job search assistance and enhances your co-op student job performance by providing classes in leadership, communication, teamwork, total quality management, and other pertinent subjects. This unique program supplements UB's strong technical curriculum and immediately increases on-the-job effectiveness.
The Co-op program enables you to gain exposure to a real employment situation, applying technical and business skills in an industrial environment. This willl enhance your prospective job opportunities at graduation.
Program Summaries
Engineering Career Institute - Job search (Pre-employment) and career preparation (Industrial Success) classes
- One-credit, Spring semester.
- An Internet Job Search System designed to widen your employment opportunities and build your job search skills.
- Fall and Spring semester Pre-Employment Classes to guide you toward obtaining a technical job of your choice.
- Industrial Success Classes for enhanced on-the-job effectiveness. Comprehensive exposure to industrial success subjects. Classes will include management speakers from industry who will convey their expertise in preparing engineering and applied sciences students to perform well in jobs requiring teamwork, project management, financial awareness and value engineering.
Co-op Program - Valuable technical employment experience.
- Two-credits per Co-op work period.
- One to multiple technical employment periods (semesters: Summer - mid-May through early August; Fall - late August to mid-December or mid-January; Spring - late January through mid-May). You will be billed for two credits plus pro-rated fees.
- Access to Internet Job Search System to locate credit-worthy employment.
