Objective

You will investigate the characteristics of standing waves produced by strings. There is a relationship between the string's length, diameter, tension and density and the frequency the string will vibrate. This frequency (called its resonant frequency) is used to tune a musical instrument. You will use acoustical methods as well as a magnetic pick-up coil to investigate these standing waves.
