Introduction |
| All vibrating strings generate sounds
of different loudness
[decibels] and
pitch [hertz].
How hard a string is pluck and the design of the sound box affects
the loudness of the sound. The pitch or frequency that is generated
is mainly affected by the tension of the string.
The design of a string instrument requires understanding of the
above factor as well as several other factors that affect the quality
of the sound that is created. Doing this activity will help you
to better understand how to use these parameters to design a good
