This KSB will enable you to understand how sound waves are generated. You will investigate how instruments generate both fundamental tones and multiples of these fundamental tones. These multiples (also known as harmonics and overtones) give musical instruments their unique quality of sound. Each musical instrument produces it's own pattern of frequencies at a variety of sound intensities.
