Welcome to all future engineering graduate students who have come to this page as the first stop in your exploration of graduate study possibilities at UB Engineering.

UB Engineering is a terrific place for graduate study. This is what our graduate students tell us and this is what our graduates tell us. We are a school with as many subdivisions as we have faculty labs but we are, as a whole school, a happy place where the work is exciting, the people are smart and friendly and interested, and the atmosphere is both intense and relaxed.

UB Engineering offers the following graduate degrees:

  • Master of Engineering (MEng) — A program designed for students or practicing engineers who wish to build their knowledge base and gain additional academic experience beyond undergraduate study. This degree can usually be completed in 12 months.
  • Master of Science (MS) — A research-oriented program that provides advanced training in a particular engineering discipline. This degree can usually be completed in 18-24 months.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) — This program brings students to the highest level of educational accomplishment in an engineering discipline, requiring mastery of subject matter and original, independent resulting in a dissertation. This program usually requires 4-5 years.
