The first Vital Partner Award was presented to

Praxair, Inc.

A longtime, loyal, and annual contributor to the school, Praxair embarked on an active research program with the school's faculty and entered into the first-ever umbrella research agreement with UB that facilitates research contract work.  A charter member of the school's Engineering Career Institute, Praxair supports  the institute with industrial lectures and student summer employment.  Praxair further extended its relationship to include involvement with the school's Co-Op program.

Dr. Mark H. Karwan, dean, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences,
presents William Therrien, vice president of engineering, Praxair, with the Vital Partner Award

The Vital Partner Award has been established to thank a company that has displayed a comprehensive relationship with and exemplary generosity to the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The award recognizes an organization's involvement with the school through its collaborative research with faculty, its practical internship opportunities for students, and its active involvement in providing career positions for graduates. The award also shows appreciation for a company's philanthropic support.
