Available Positions: Planning & Project Management Co-op
Position
Description of Position: Become an integral part of the
Buffalo District Planning Team to help initiate and study the
engineer, environmental, and economic feasibility of a wide variety
of projects. Assist Plan Formulators and Project Managers in
scheduling, budgeting, scoping, planning, and evaluating
alternative solutions for ecosystems restoration, bank
stabilization, shoreline protection, flood and storm damage
reduction, and navigation projects.
Monetary benefits aside, the experience gained will greatly
enhance the student's skills for future employment opportunities
in both the private and public sector. If a career-conditional
(permanent) position is available within 120 days of the co-op's
graduation, and the co-op has worked a minimum of 640 hours, the
co-opus eligible to be reassigned to a permanent position without
going through another application process. Students will have
the opportunity to work in a professional environment, and help
them build on their interpersonal, communication, and
organizational skills.
Eligibility Requirements:
- College Student (Minimum 6 credit hours per semester-
verification required)
- GS-4 if working towards a bachelor's degree. GS-5 if working
towards a masters degree.
- Hours: 32-40 hours/week for the summer and part-time during
the academic year dependent on the student's schedule.
- Completed high school.
- U.S. Citizenship
- Responsible for observing all safety rules, regulations, and
directives applicable to work assignment.
- College major in any of the following areas: Planning,
Economics, Geography, Archaeology, Biology, Engineering,
Architecture, Natural, or Physical Sciences.
