Here is a list of scholarships and fellowships awarded through the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences:
Robert P. Apmann Memorial Fund
Established in 1978 by Mr. Arthur Apmann to provide an annual award in memory of Dr. Robert P. Apmann to a deserving student at the University at Buffalo Department of Civil, Structional & Environmental Engineering as selected by the Chairman of the department.
Michael Bauda Scholarship Award
Established December in 1999. Awarded to entering Freshman (from High School) based on Academic merit to be selected by Dean's Undergraduate office.
Adarsh Bhagat Memorial Fund
Established in 1985 to provide an annual award to a student of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering who exhibits excellence in studies as well as active participation in the local chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers
The Chuang Family Scholarship
Established in 2000 by Joe Y. Chuang to be awarded to an undergraduate student and will be based on academic merit and financial need.
Civil Engineering Fund
Established in 1954 by various corporations in the industrial community to be used for the advancement of the Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering Department.
Engineering Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1993 by alumni gifts to provide grants and/or scholarships to junior, seniors or graduate students in good standing in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences demonstrating leadership, promotional ability, involvement in campus and community activities and school spirit and loyalty.
Engineering & Applied Sciences Endowment Fund
Established in 1994 to support the educational activities of the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences under the discretion of the Dean.
Engineering Undergraduate Fellowships
Established in 1996 to provide undergraduate fellowships in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences and the Department of Computer Science & Engineering with preference in selection given to minority students.
Clifford C. Furnas Eminent Professors
Established in 1982 by Mrs. Clifford C. Furnas, Mr. Wilson Greatbatch and the Seymour H. Knox Foundation to honor professors who are both teaching and conducting research in a field of engineering and applied sciences who shall hold the title of Clifford C. Furnas Eminent Professor and to provide stipends to students holding Furnas Memorial Student Research Assistantships in the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.
Rozalyn Z. Gammerman
Semester award to worthy student completing "Technical Communication for Engineers."
Robert H. & Catherine H. Goldsmith Scholarship
Established in 1997 by Mr. & Mrs. Robert H. Goldsmith to provide a scholarship to offset the expense of the fifth year of tuition for the combined B.S./M. Engineering Program at the University at Buffalo.
Gregory B. Jarvis Scholarship Fund
Established in 1986 by Mrs. Marcia Jarvis and Moog Controls, Inc. to provide annual scholarships in memory of Gregory B. Jarvis to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Arthur R. Keller Fund
Established in 1969 by Arthur Keller to be used as the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences deems most appropriate.
Robert B. Kleinschmidt Memorial Fund
Established in 1959 by friends of Robert Kleinschmidt to provide annual scholarships to be awarded to students of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo.
Yong Lee Scholarship
To be awarded as a 2 year scholarship to a deserving Junior level student in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. 5 candidates to be selected by the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering department & forwarded to the Dean's office for selection consideration by the Lee family.
James Clerk Maxwell/Primex Professorship Fund
Established in 1985 to provide supplemental assistance to a professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences who is a leader in the area of power technologies.
J.W. McLernon Superior Student Program
Established in 1978 by Mr. & Mrs. James W. McLernon to provide annual awards to individuals selected by the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Edwin G. Menth, Jr. Estate
Established in 1995 by Edwin G. Menth to benefit the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Moog, Inc. Fellowship
Annual award beginning Fall '01 to be used in Support of one graduate fellowship in one of the following areas: Systems Engineering, Engineering Design, or Electrical Engineering.
Hiroshi Morihara & Mary McSwain Fellowship Award
Annual award for a deserving graduate student in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering for 5 years beginning Spring, 1999.
Motorola Foundation Award
Award from Motorola Foundation to support the University of Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, to be awarded Fall '01.
NEMA
Sponsored by National Electrical Manufacturers Association. Award to an undergraduate student(s) in the Department of Chemical Engineering who will remain a chemical engineering student throughout their undergrad program. Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.2. Will be selected prior to his/her junior or senior year.
Praxair Fellowship Award
To be awarded to a graduate student in Chemical Engineering with preference given to a minority student.
School of Engineering Fund
Established in 1955 to provide annual scholarships or loans for students of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Sevenson Environmental Services Endowed Lectureship Fund
Established in 1992 by Sevenson Environment Services to provide support for the enhancement of programs in environmental engineering at the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, including, but not limited to, guest lectureships, demonstrations and seminars featuring nationally prominent specialists.
Silent Hoist & Crane Co., Materials Handling Prize Award
Established in 1960 by the Wunsch Foundation, Inc to award a prize for the best papers on the subject of "Materials Handling."
Alison Simons Scholarship Award
Annual award for three years (beginning 00-01) for a Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering student(s) with preference given to a student(s) pursuing a degree while supporting & raising a family.
Henry Stone Graduate Assistantship Award
Award for 2 years beginning 00-01 for a graduate assistantship for a disadvantaged graduate student.
Frederick H. Thomas Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1982 by Mrs. Patricia T. Thomas to provide an annual scholarship to a deserving student from the University at Buffalo Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.
Elbridge N. and Stephana R. Townsend Scholarship Fund
Established in 1995 by William Townsend to provide scholarships to students who concentrate their studies in the areas of engineering, preferably, but not necessarily, in the field of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering.
Uebelhoer Brothers Scholarship
Administered by the University Financial Aid Office as part of an honors scholarship. Established in 1944 by Uebelhoer Brothers, Inc to provide annual scholarships to be awarded to students of mechanical engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo.
Isaac Waugh Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1965 by Frieda Waugh to be awarded to residents of Erie County, NY who are attending one of the departments of engineering or pursuing studies related to engineering at the University at Buffalo.
John Zahorjan Scholarship
Established in 2000 by the family of Dr. John Zahorjan, to be awarded to currently enrolled Masters of Engineering students in the Industrial Engineering Department.
Gustav & Grete Zimmer Memorial Scholarship Award
For outstanding Mechanical Engineering Seniors
