Planned Gifts
You can benefit from your own generosity.
Are you looking to donate to the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Sciences?
You might consider leaving your mark with a planned gift.
With careful planning, you can generate tax-saving deductions, avoid capital-gain tax, maintain or even increase income benefits for yourself and/or others, and make a substantial charitable gift.
Possible gift vehicles to consider are:
Charitable Remainder Trust
Assets are placed in a trust that provides benefits to designated persons for a periods of time, after which what is left-the remainder- is distributed to a charity or charities. This allows a donor to provide income for selected beneficiaries during the trust term and lock in a gift to satisfy charitable goals.
Charitable Lead Trust
If you would like to shield more of your accumulated wealth from gift and estate taxes and you are interested in our organization, the charitable lead trust may be for you. Under this plan you would irrevocably transfer assets to a trustee and provides that payments be made to this organization for a certain number of years. Then the principle would be distributed to your children, grandchildren, or other heirs.
Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust
You want to make a significant gift, but you don't see how you can afford to give up any income your assets generate right now, consider a charitable remainder annuity trust. This method allows you to fulfill your personal desire to make a contribution while:
- Providing you with a predetermined stream of payments for the rest of your life
- Giving you a significant income-tax deduction
- Enhancing your current standard of living by increasing your cash flow
Our Office of Planned Giving can work with you and your advisors to arrange the planned gift that best suits your objectives, offering you options and opportunities.
