The Junior Solar Sprint (JSS) is a national hands-on educational program that encourages students to develop theoretical and applied engineering skills. Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade have the opportunity to design, build, and race solar powered model cars.
BEAM Participation
2007
Students from two BEAM clubs in Buffalo Public Schools, D’Youville Porter Campus and Westminster Community Charter School, won trophies in four categories and the overall trophy at the Junior Solar Sprint Competition in Elma, NY.
2005
Forty teams from twelve area schools competed.
