President -- Donald P. Visco, Jr.
Don is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemical Engineering. His research consists of the thermodynamic and molecular modeling of hydrogen fluoride. "I feel that learning 'how to teach' is overlooked during graduate school in engineering. Thus, UB-ASEE will get people (faculty & students) thinking about how to better teach for the sole purpose of increasing student learning."

Vice-President -- Florentino Leyte
Florentino is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering. He has been a Teaching Assistant for Statics (EAS207), Dynamics (EAS208), and Soil Mechanics (CIE434). Of late, he has been the Soil Mechanics Lab Instructor. His current research for his dissertation is on the topic "Dynamics of Foundations on Anisotropic Media". Other research interests include theoretical and experimental soil dynamics, foundation engineering, composites, boundary element methods, and expert systems among others.

Mary is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Her research area includes numerical simulations of droplet collisions. After receiving a B.S. degree in M.E. from UB in 1989, she worked in Southern California for General Dynamics/Hughes Missile System Company. While there, she earned an M.S. degree in M.E. from California State University, Fullerton. In 1994, she went to Cornell University and obtained an M.Eng. degree in M.E.. In fall of 1995, she returned to UB for Ph.D. studies. During her time at UB, she has been a Teaching Assistant for 4 semesters as well as serving as a Lecturer for the Millard Fillmore College (MFC) for 2 semesters.

Undergraduate Liaison -- Candace Demarti
Candace is currently a senior in the Department of Chemical Engineering. She transferred to UB from RIT after her freshman year in the Chemistry Department in order to take on the challenges of engineering. During the summer of 1998, she worked as an intern at the Technology Center of Occidental Chemical Corporation, in the field of R&D for agricultural specialty chemicals. She will be graduating this May, with added goals to gain industrial experience and to continue her education.
