Responsibilities: The successful applicant will contribute by
building onto and improving the exiting digital holography system object oriented
algorithms to enable efficient adaption to new applications. This will
require a strong working knowledge of coherent optics and the ability to turn
this fundamental understanding into object oriented algorithms in C++ or Java
Numerics. As an important member of a research team consisting of a number of
graduate students, permanent staff and supporting faculty, the successful
applicant will lead weekly research meetings, and oversee the efforts of the
graduate students and support staff. Strong communication and interpersonal
skills will be required to lead grant proposal preparation, peer reviewed publication preparation and attend
conferences to present research findings. The dissemination of knowledge to
our students through the regular teaching of graduate level students will be
expected. Administrative duties including, purchasing, budget and oversight
and planning, research assistant recruiting and interviewing will be required
as needed. Education: Ph.D. in Electrical
Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field, specializing
in coherent optics or instrumentation with experience in object oriented
software development. Experience: The incumbent should be experienced in
digital imaging algorithm development in Matlab and final implementation in
Java Numerics or C++ code; possess a strong analytical understanding of
coherent optics and possibly holography; have working experience in standard
electro-mechanical optics bread boarding setup and laser tuning and
operation. The incumbent must have a functional knowledge and experience with
coherent optics design and setup. 2 – 5 years of graduate school or work
experience in an appropriate field is expected. |
