Project Summary

Vision and Objectives

Network Centric Warfare (NCW) the centerpiece of Department of Defense's Joint Vision 2020 is critically dependent on :

  • Network Technology

  • Distributed Fusion

NCW aims at rapid and dependable development and dissemination of the common tracking picture and common operating picture

Achieving this depends on :

  • Managed information/comms system

  • Appropriate nodal fusion-based algorithms

  • Advanced tracking algorithms

  • Visualization of tracks with associated uncertainties, network topology

The influences of these design factors on network performance are interdependent and complex - this requires overall network architecture to be designed empirically

This program is a first step towards building a simulation-based test bed for studying and understanding network design tradeoffs on overall network performance
