About ERIEThe Ecosystem Restoration through Interdisciplinary Exchange (ERIE) initiative is a collection of academic programs and research projects designed to advance the science, engineering, and policy of ecosystem restoration, and contribute to the ecological recovery of the Great Lakes and Western New York. ERIE participants include scholars from numerous academic departments at the University at Buffalo, neighboring Buffalo State College and Niagara University, and from McMaster University, the University of Waterloo, and the University of Windsor. In addition, ERIE's advisory board consists of members from outside academic institutions, and local private and governmental organizations. For a quick summary on ERIE educational outreach, training and research opportunities, refer to the following ERIE fact sheets. As the ERIE project unfolds, additional information will be forthcoming regarding ERIE projects and partnerships with external government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and Tribal environmental programs. In the meantime, we encourage eligible students (U.S. citizen and permanent residents) with excellent academic records and relevant research interests to apply for ERIE doctoral traineeships through the National Science Foundation Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) program (click here for application information). In
addition to the ERIE IGERT traineeships, a variety of other student
opportunities are available through the participating academic
