Senior engineers apply their skills and knowledge to field-based problems as interns in return for academic credit. Electrical  Engineering and Industrial Engineering graduate students are also eligible to work on projects suitable for degreed engineers. Students are directed by company engineers and are advised by a faculty member.

Typically the student is required to work at a local company 8 to 12 hours per week for a full semester.  To develop written and oral communication skills, interns submit a proposal, bi-weekly progress reports, a final report, and an oral presentation.
