Course Registration
GrAdMIT Form for first time UB non-degree students.
If you have applied to a department for admission to a graduate program, do not fill out this form.
To Pursue a Degree:
You must make application to UB Engineering graduate programs officially through the department of your choice for your credit hours to count toward a degree. Your application for approval for admission should start as soon as possible, but must occur within the first 6-12 credit hours of your work, or you will be “check stopped” from any further registrations. Please be aware that your time limit starts with your first graduate registration, even if you are not matriculated. Coursework beyond the 6-12th credit hour may not count toward your degree, therefore, check your department’s policy.
Our office does not make any admissions decisions or recommendations. Normal departmental criteria apply. Please contact the graduate secretary in the department of your choice.
NOTE: In accordance with New York State Education Department (SED) regulations, the percentage of courses taken through distance education must be less than 50% of a graduate student’s degree requirements.
The pertinent SED policy is summarized on the following website:
http://www.highered.nysed.gov/ocue/ded/reviewoptions.html
The exception is the M.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering. Please contact your department for more details and clarification.
Please Note: The time limit for a degree is 4 years (excluding approved leaves of absence) from the time of your first graduate registration. Should more time be necessary you may apply for an extension of time limit, which requires departmental approval and which is normally granted for a period of one year or less. Student's requests for extension of time limit must be justified using a graduate student petition form found at www.grad.buffalo.edu. If you are not enrolled in consecutive semesters, you should file a formal leave-of-absence prior to the start of the semester. Continued leaves of absence beyond two years will not be granted. Any questions regarding these policies should be directed to departmental graduate secretaries.
