Welcome to the EngiNet™ Graduate Distance Education Program
Courses are streamed via the Internet. Your computer will need a broadband connection such as DSL (through Verizon, or your local telephone company), or a cable modem (through Time-Warner Cable, or your local cable provider).
The following will provide you with the information required to get started as an EngiNet™ Distance Education student. Please be aware, you are responsible for all the information covered.
UBIT Name
What is a UBITName?
Your UBITName is your University at Buffalo Information Technology userNAME.
You can find your UBITName in the online directory.
If you were a previous UB student, and your UBITName is not available at the above website, it is likely due to a selection to “not publish” your university information, which was perhaps done years ago. To request this be changed, please complete the following form from the Office of the Registrar website:
http://registrar.buffalo.edu/pdfs/directoryRelease-NonRelease.pdf
For questions regarding this form, please contact the Student Response Center at (716) 645-2450 or email:
src@buffalo.edu.
UBITName Account
All students have been issued an UBITName account. Your UBITName gives you access to important UB IT services including
e-mail,
MyUB,
UBlearns, and
Services for Students.
If you are new to the University, you will need to claim your UBITName Account.
If you are returning to UB, your old account will be reactivated. You can use your account immediately, if you remember your password. If you do not remember your password, contact the CIT Help Desk at cit-helpdesk@buffalo.edu or 716-645-3542 for assistance.
Single-Use Password and UB Person Number
Your single-use password is a one-time password used solely for claiming one’s UBITName account. A single-use password will be emailed to you, or request it from the CIT Help Desk at cit-helpdesk@buffalo.edu or 716-645-3542.
You can retrieve your UB person number from your GrAdMIT application, or request it from the CIT Help Desk at cit-helpdesk@buffalo.edu or 716-645-3542.
UB Email Account
Your email address is UBITName@buffalo.edu. Find your UBITName online. Information regarding your UB email account and other services for students is available on the following website: http://ubit.buffalo.edu/students.
Please be aware that the university requires that all UB communications to students be sent via your University at Buffalo account. You can elect to have these emails forwarded to your personal accounts. Instructions for forwarding emails are available on the following website: http://ubit.buffalo.edu/ubmail.
UB Card
If you are available to come to campus a UBCard will be issued to you: http://www.myubcard.com/ubcard.

You will be accessing your streamed lectures through a program called UBlearns. Your professor may also use UBlearns for course information. Registered students will be automatically enrolled in their course(s) on the official start date of the semester. To get started in UBlearns, please use the following website: http://ublearns.buffalo.edu.
The only email account that UBlearns interacts with are University at Buffalo email accounts. Therefore, home or work accounts, cannot be used.
