ABET
Accreditation Both of the BS degrees offered by the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering are designed for accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC), a component of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Graduation with an ABET-accredited degree is normally the first step in obtaining licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE). EAC reviews undergraduate programs for accreditation at 6-year intervals. The most recent UB review took place in December 2002, including the first review of the new BS Environmental Engineering Program. Excerpts from the 2002 Civil Engineering Self-Study Report are available online here. General information for UB students regarding Professional Engineering licensure is available from http://wings.buffalo.edu/eng/oss/pe.html. Civil
Engineering Program The goals of the Civil Engineering program are organized into the following components:
Achievement of the Educational Objectives and Outcomes is assessed through a variety of instruments that are summarized in the Civil Engineering Assessment Plan. An overview of assessment activities completed to date is provided in the Civil Engineering Assessment Report, which is updated on a periodic basis. Individual components of most of the assessment activities can be accessed below:
In addition to the above formalized assessment activities, the CSEE Undergraduate Studies Committee meets regularly to evaluate the Department’s degree programs and consider measures for improvement.
