Preface

The policies and procedures in Sections 1 and 2 were adopted by the Faculty of the Department of Civil Engineering on December 16, 1980, and amended on May 13, 1985, April 28, 1986 and May 15, 1990. School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) policies and procedures included in this manual were approved by the SEAS faculty in summer 1988, and revised in March 1991. The policies and procedures related to graduate study included in this manual are effective for all graduate students entering the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering after August 1, 1997. The Department reserves the right to modify the procedures and requirements outlined in this manual. Such modifications generally will not be considered as retroactive.
