Commencement

Dear Graduate:

Congratulations on your graduation! The UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences will hold its divisional commencement on

Saturday, May 10, 2008, 1:00 p.m., Alumni Arena, UB North Campus

All graduating students are invited to participate in this commencement. B.A., B.S., combined baccalaureate and masters, M.Eng., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees will be conferred.

All students participating in the engineering commencement ceremony should register. The registration link is on the engineering home page at www.eng.buffalo.edu.

All candidates are required to report at noon at the south side of Alumni Arena to assemble for the procession. Lineup will be by degree program and degree level. The inclement weather site for forming will be the Triple Gym in Alumni Arena.

We welcome your family and guests to this ceremony. Since there are no limitations for seating, tickets are not required for admission. We ask that you share this information with your family and friends.

All graduates and their guests are invited to departmental receptions hosted by Dean Harvey G. Stenger Jr. and the departmental chairs immediately following the commencement ceremony. These receptions will be held in the area between Bell and Bonner Halls, adjacent to Ketter Hall, and in the Student Union (please check with your department for its specific reception location).

For your convenience, information you will need to make the necessary arrangements to attend your commencement is attached.

We ask all graduating seniors to assist us with information on your success by completing the Graduating Senior Survey listed on the engineering home page at www.eng.buffalo.edu. The survey will be available beginning April 1st.

Caps and Gowns:

Formal graduation attire will be worn. Bachelors and masters degree recipients must purchase their attire. Doctoral recipients normally rent their attire. All attire is available at the UB Bookstore, 200 Lee Entrance, North Campus, according to the following schedule:

Rental Prices

Orders taken through March 2nd - there is no guarantee of correct hood color if ordering after March 2nd. Rental pick-up at Bookstore beginning April 21st.

*Out-of-town students and graduates wishing to participate may call the Bookstore and order their attire using a credit card - attire will be shipped to an address provided by the student.

Photography:

A professional photographer will be taking individual photographs of each graduate during the ceremony. You will be contacted directly by the photography company and shown proofs of your photos. There is no obligation to purchase. The photography is done by Chappell Studios. Their customer service can be reached at 1-800-424-3686.

Video:

The UB Office of Conferences and Special Events will video the ceremony and sell the recording. Please visit www.ubevents.org/regengine/index.php "Commencement DVD 2008" if you are interested in purchasing the video. A copy of an order form may also be included in the Commencement program if space allows.
